About Us
Who Are We
We are Homemade! Our team of professional chefs curate weekly menus and teach you how to cook through free online cooking classes. Our virtual sessions are led by the most enthusiastic, experienced, and entertaining chefs from all around the country. If you think it’s time to feel a little more at home in your own kitchen, join us to discover how easy cooking can really be. If you’re already an experienced chef, you belong here, too. There’s always something new to learn, as our instructors share new techniques, ingredients, and more.
Our Story
Chef Joel Gamoran has always believed that you don’t need to be a professional chef to create a delicious meal. From his A&E hit series, Scraps, to his book, Cooking Scrappy, Joel has always placed a focus on sustainability, simple home cooking, and education. When he and co-founder Ben Rosenfeld started Homemade, the goal was to make cooking more accessible for everyone, and protect the environment while inspiring millions to experiment with food at home.
Putting together a team of chefs that are just as passionate and committed to helping people learn how to cook, Joel has struck a nerve with a public that’s hungry to connect. Many of our chefs have been featured on The Food Network, The Today Show, and Good Morning America. Some have even made contributions to The New York Times!
Our Mission
Our mission is to create online cooking classes that are approachable, engaging, friendly, and above all, fun! While a memorable cooking event is definitely about the food, at Homemade, there is so much more to the experience. Working right alongside our professionally trained chefs allows all our attendees to interact with them, ask questions, and learn just what it takes to make a delicious home-cooked meal.
Saving the Earth
One of the main reasons we started Homemade was to make a difference for people and the planet. As we teach everyone and anyone about the joys of cooking, we’re also focusing on cooking to save the Earth. We know that every ingredient we use in a dish has an impact on the environment, so what can we do to ensure that our planet continues to thrive?
Homemade has teamed up with The Nature Conservancy to raise awareness about environmentally-friendly decisions in the kitchen. Whether it’s awareness around population growth and food demand, learning how to recycle packaging, or choosing more sustainable ingredients for every meal, The Nature Conservancy is all about education, innovation, and community collaboration. All of the optional donations from our free cooking classes — yes, that’s 100% of them — go to this amazing organization!
